PORT ELIZABETH, Nov 19: Sachin Tendulkar, who was charged with ball tampering during the second Test between India and South Africa, will know his fate Tuesday.

India’s leading batsman was summoned to a hearing by match referee Mike Denness before the start of play Monday after television pictures captured images of him allegedly using his fingernails to interfere with the seam of the ball Sunday.

Virender Sehwag, Deep Dasgupta, Shiv Sunder Das and Harbhajan Singh were also heard, all on charges of excessive appealing. Denness also summoned Indian captain Saurav Ganguly.

Denness requested videotaped copies of the alleged ball tampering incident from the television producers, who were obliged to provide it.—Reuters
