PESHAWAR, May 6: The Railways police on Sunday arrested an army personnel and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession at the Peshawar cantonment railway station.
An official of the railway police station told Dawn that the suspect Akram Ali was taken away by the security forces from the police station.
The official further said police recovered two repeater guns, one 44-bore riffle, 5 pistols and 450 cartridges of different bores from his luggage. He was on the platform when the railway police got suspicious and searched his luggage. He belongs to Qadar Bakhash village, Nowshero Feroze.
The police official said it couldn’t be ascertained for what purpose he was smuggling the arms. He also expressed ignorance about the unit to which the suspect belonged.
