LAHORE, May 6: The huge public meeting in Taxila -- the first show of the Pakistan Muslim League’s anti-government movement -- is a proof of the people’s confidence in the party.

Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has said this in a press release issued here on Sunday, adding the “corrupt” rulers were perturbed after the PML-N’s public meeting in Taxila.

He said not only Punjab governor but other PPP leaders were also upset by the number of participants in the public meeting and their enthusiasm.

Commenting on Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa’s statement in which he termed the PML-N leadership incompetent and corrupt, Rana Sanaullah said it seemed PPP leaders had also realised that the days of federal government had been numbered.

By participating in the Taxila meeting, people had proved they were ready to get rid of corrupt PPP government under the leadership of PML-N president Nawaz Sharif, he added.

The minister said a “corrupt” president and a “convicted” prime minister were bringing a bad name to the country but, he added, it made no difference to the both PPP leaders who were ‘engaged in amassing money and protecting it’.

Sanaullah said PML-N had always respected the judiciary and its decisions but the PPP after the Supreme Court’s decision against Yousuf Raza Gilani had started defaming the superior judiciary.

He said democracy meant service to the masses and resolution of their problems and not plundering of national wealth.

He said the entire nation had stood up against the “corrupt” government and it would soon throw them out of power corridors.
