ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz ( PML-N) on Thursday tabled a resolution in the National Assembly’s secretariat demanding formation of four new provinces in the country, DawnNews reported.

The newly proposed provinces by the PML-N in the resolution are Fata, South Punjab, Bahawalpur and Hazara.

The PML-N demanded that government should form new province under the article-239 of the constitution.

“Formation of new provinces is the long-standing demand of the people and it will bring prosperity and development in the country,” the resolution stated.

The resolution has signatures of all the members of the National Assembly belonging to the PML-N.

Earlier today, the National Assembly adopted resolutions  supporting the creation of a south Punjab province and reposing confidence in Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Speaking to media representatives outside the assembly, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had said that not only was the PML-N in favour of the formation of a south Punjab province, it also supported the creation of the Bahawalpur and Hazara provinces.

Nisar moreover said that the passing of a resolution in the National Assembly over the formation of a south Punjab province had no significance.
