LAHORE, April 27: While Punjab Colours earned a close 1-0 win against Punjab Whites, Railways, one of the strong teams of the event, thrashed Sindh 9-0 as three more matches were decided on the second day of the National Women Hockey Championship at the National Hockey Stadium’s outer ground here on Friday.

A solitary goal of the match by Kalsoom Munir helped Punjab Colours beat Punjab Whites 1-0 after playing a goalless first half.

In the other match Railways’ Mayira Sabir (3) and Shukria Rashid (2) guided Railways to a victory against Sindh. Mayira struck goals in the 21st, 27th and 53rd minutes while Shukria’s goal came in the 20th and 31st minutes.

Marina Anwar (25th min) converted a penalty-corner, while Aqsa Mumtaz (45th min), Zakia Nawaz (59th min) and Iram Hassan (64th min) scored one goal each to complete the tally.

Wapda also earned second consecutive win when they trounced Pakistan Board 4-0. Muqadas Akbar (9th, 43rd minutes), Shahida Raza (52nd min) and Fakhra (53rd min) scored for the winning side.
