HARIPUR, April 11: At least seven people, including two women, were killed and eight others injured when a speeding passenger coach collided with a van near Shah Maqsood village on G.T. road here on Wednesday.

Police said that a Mansehra-bound coach (LWL-3267) coming from Lahore and Rawalpindi-bound van (RIR 9121) coming from Balakot collided head on near village Shah Maqsood when the coach driver lost control due to speeding. As a result, seven passengers, including two couples, of the van were killed.

The accident was so severe that the bodies and injured passengers were retrieved after cutting the body of the van.

Eyewitnesses said that some of the bodies were mutilated.

Those killed were identified as Aqeel Nawaz Khan and his wife Gulzar Bibi, Abdul Sattar and his wife Rehana Bibi, Iqbal Khan, Wali Mohammad and van driver Amir Shehzad. The bodies and injured were taken to Women and Children Hospital, Haripur.

The hospital sources said that five of the injured passengers were discharged after first aid and three seriously injured namely Siddiq, Sultan and Madiha Bibi were referred to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad.
