KARACHI, Dec 8: The man and the woman who were found murdered here at the Macedonian honorary consulate early Thursday morning were identified on Sunday by their relations, police said.

Investigators said the man had been identified as Asif Khan, aged 40, a chef, hailing from Gujranwala. The woman had been identified as Ghazala Parveen, aged 37, wife of Mohammed Amin, an employee of the Karachi Port Trust Fire Station.

“Amin is a fire-engine driver,” police sources said.

Police officials said investigations were in progress, and at this stage it would be premature to say who was behind the attack. Police were, however, looking into all the aspects, including possible involvement of foreign hand.

Sources in the investigation wing said two motorcycles recovered from the consulate belonged to Hameed and Asif.

The sources added that since the consulate used to remain inoperative most of the time, the watchman, Hameed, misused the office premises.

“This seems to have been going on for quite some time,” a senior police officer said.

The sources said the honorary consul-general of Macedonia, Bilal Qureshi, expressed surprise at the killing of a woman on the premises of the consulate while talking to newsmen on the scene of the crime.

Three bodies were recovered from the debris at the Macedonian consulate in Phase-1V of Defence Housing Authority early Thursday morning several hours after a bomb blast there. All the three were not killed in the bomb blast.
