KARACHI, April 4: Reigning national junior champion Hunain Aamir followed the footsteps of his compatriot Mohammad Majid Ali when he qualified for the knockout pre quarter-finals of the 13th Asian under-21 snooker championship in the Indian city of Goa on Wednesday.

Fresh from his 4-3 triumph over Indian Lalit Dahiya in group ‘A’ the other day, Hunain continued his winning spree when he got the better of Singapore’s Marcus Lim Wei Jie 87-17, 62-6, 84-16, 75-37. He is now drawn to meet reigning world champion Hossein Vafaei Ayouri of Iran in the last league match that will decide top two positions from the group.

Earlier in the day, Hossein caught the limelight by piling up magnificent break of 137 in the first frame against Singapore’s Marcus in his 4-0 win. He was home 137-0, 75-28, 77-10, 72-51.
