KARACHI: Police and rangers conducted joint targeted operations on Saturday, arresting more than a dozen suspects and recovered illegal arms and ammunition, whereas Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik visited various areas of the city and heard the grievance of the residents, DawnNews reported.

The raids were carried out in Banaras, Qasba Colony, Bukhari Colony and Orangi Town areas of the city.

Meanwhile Rehman Malik visited various areas of the city and mingled with the residents. He spent time with the citizens, had food with them and heard their complaints.

Earlier, speaking to media representatives at Jinnah International airport on his arrival from Islamabad, he said that anti state elements were creating law and order situation in the financial hub of the country and that Karachi was being targeted to destabilise the country.

The federal interior minister said that every possible measure would be taken to bring peace in Karachi and promised compensation to the heirs of those killed in the city’s violence. He also said that all political parties would jointly develop a strategy to improve the situation of the port city.

The federal minister has called for an emergency meeting to review the law and order situation inKarachi, at the Chief Minister’s House. The meeting would be attended by the IG Sindh, DG ISI, Additional IG of FC and MI, and other high officials.
