LAHORE, March 25: A 55-year-old man, who allowed his neighbour to use his rooftop for a wedding, died of jubilation firing in Chungi Amar Sidhu early on Sunday.

The suspects, friends of the bridegroom, resorted to aerial firing, Factory Area police said.

The henna ceremony of Imran was being held at the rooftop of Ghulam Muhammad’s house where Shoaib and Khadim started firing to celebrate the occasion.

Ghulam Muhammad forced them to leave the place.

The suspects left the venue for a while and later returned again to fire another round of bullets.

A bullet hit Ghulam Muhammad and he died instantly.

Police arrested Khadim with the weapon.

MURDERS: A 27-year-old woman was poisoned allegedly by her husband and sister in a North Cantonment locality on Sunday.

Police said Javed Iqbal and Raheela poisoned Ramzana, mother of four, who died at a hospital later.

The woman, in his statement to the police, said Javed and her sister poisoned her.

North Cantonment police investigation showed that Javed allegedly established relations with Raheela which disturbed Ramzana.

Police registered a case against the suspects on the complaint of Amanat, victim’s brother.

Sundar police said 20-year-old Shamim was shot at and killed by her brother Naveed alias Bhola for honour in Meter Factory locality.Police registered a case against Naveed on the complaint of Shaukat Masih, the victim’s father.

Defence-A police said 50-year-old security guard Asghar of Azad Kashmir was gunned down by his colleague Yasir on a monetary dispute in Charrar village on Sunday.

Police said Ashgar, who had lent Rs80,000 to Yasir, was pressing the latter to return his money.

On the day of the incident, both quarreled with each other and Yasir, who also belongs to Azad Kashmir, shot Asghar and fled the scene.

Police registered a case against the suspect on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Sufyan.

ACCIDENT: Three people were killed in as many road accidents in the city on Sunday.

Nishtar Colony police said Muhammad Aqeel, father of one, was riding a motorcycle on Ferozepur Road when a truck hit and killed him.

Lower Mall police said 26-year-old Farooq was hit and killed by a car near Data Sahib Darbar. Onlookers captured the car driver and handed him over to the police.

Islampura police said a 45-year-old unidentified man was killed after being struck in a hit-and-run crash near Khokha Stop.

CYLINDER BLAST: A couple suffered burns after a gas-cylinder in their house exploded in Krishan Nagar early on Sunday.

Islampura police said Naveed and his wife Samina returned home after purchasing medicine shortly before the blast took place apparently because of gas-leakage.

The injured were admitted to Mayo Hospital.
