LAHORE, March 19: Robbers took away cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs5.7 million in three hits in the city on Monday.

Three robbers masquerading as customers entered Madina Jewellers in Ichhra, took the owner at gunpoint, looted gold ornaments worth Rs2.5 million and fled.

Four robbers entered Shahzad’s house in Shahdara, took the family at gunpoint and looted Rs1.3 million in cash and 35 tolas of gold ornaments totalling worth Rs3.2 million and fled.

Six robbers entered Shan Iqbal’s New Butt Sweets on Shalimar Link Road in front of Mughalpura police station and took away Rs90,000 in cash, cell phones and other valuables.

ACCIDENT: A 40-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a speeding car on Ferozpur Road near Lahore General Hospital on Monday.

Factory Area police said Zahida of Kasur was crossing the road at the time of the incident. She succumbed to her wounds at LGH. The car driver fled the scene.
