KOHAT, March 18: Three women of a family were shot dead by their relative over a domestic dispute in Junglekhel area of Kohat city on Sunday, police said.

They said that one Shakir allegedly exchanged hot words with his relatives and then opened fire with a Kalashnikov on them inside their house. As a result, three women identified as Mahjabeen, Madeeha and Umrao died on the spot. They said that the bodies were shifted to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy. The Junglekhel police registered a case against the accused and have launched investigation.

SPEEDY JUSTICE:

Deputy inspector general of police, Kohat region, Syed Imtiaz Shah has asked the officers to improve their intelligence network and remove shortcomings in the investigation department of police for providing quick justice to people.

He was chairing a meeting at his office on Sunday, which was attended by district police officers of Kohat, Mubarek Zeb, Sajjad Khan of Karak and Mian Saeed of Hangu besides investigation officers of the three districts and in-charge officials of all police stations.

According to a press release, the DIG said that coordination between the judiciary and investigation department was essential to delivering speedy justice to people. He said that the police should properly interrogate the accused and take serious measures for award of punishment to criminals through courts.

He said that the police should treat all people equally without making any difference between influential criminals. He said that crimes could be effectively curbed with the cooperation of elders in different areas of the division.

JI MEETING:

The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) has said that anti-Islam elements have made the country home of foreign forces by compromising over its sovereignty.

“We will expel such forces after coming into power,” said Seth Gohar Saifullah, a newcomer in the JUI-F, at a meeting held here on Sunday. Other party leaders, including Maulana Azmat Ali, Mufti Habibullah, Maulana Ghulam Mursaleen, district secretary general Sher Zaman and Shaukat Habib were also present and discussed issues relating to the party affairs.

They said that the rulers had made the life of masses miserable through their bad governance. They also claimed that they would defeat the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf in the upcoming general election with the people's support. The meeting also discussed preparations for the general election.
