CHARSADDA, March 3: Former interior minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said the deteriorating law and order situation is bringing the country to disrepute and held the government responsible for the prevailing mess.

Speaking at a public meeting in Battagram Shabqadar here on Saturday, he alleged that bulk of the budget was spent in Mardan and the promises made with the dwellers of Charsadda were not fulfilled by rulers of the province who ‘championed’ the cause of Pakhtuns.

He said that the country was beset with plethora of problems ranging from unemployment to price-hike and severe energy-crisis and spike in petroleum prices had hit the poor hard.

Flanked by Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, provincial president of the PPP-S and MPAs, he said Pakhtuns should get united to foil the nefarious designs of the enemy. Pakhtuns were the victim of terrorism for no fault of theirs but suffered as result of conspiracies, he said.

Mr Sherpao said his party had always raised voice for the rights of Pakhtuns, but those who had got to the corridors of power through votes of people had been enjoying the government and totally ignored their electorates.—Correspondent
