Turbat flood victims

Published February 27, 2012

THE flood which hit Turbat and other cities of Balochistan on June 26 caused a lot of death and destruction.

The water rose so high that people were not even safe on their rooftops. Many of them took refuge in government schools while others in the homes of their relatives. However, after some days they were provided tents where they started living. Even after the passing of five years, some people are still living in tents and nothing is being done to provide them homes so that they can live with their families. The most seriously-affected areas are located on the Arabian coast near Gwadar and Pasni and around the Kech and Hingol rivers. People don’t have money to buy food for survival and visit doctors for treatment. The government must help these people.
