KOHAT, Feb 26: Police foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons from Darra Adamkhel to down country at the toll plaza near Kohat tunnel and arrested four people here on Sunday.

Officials said that the police deputed at the checkpost near the tunnel stopped a car (FDW-80) and after search recovered one small machinegun, a sten gun and 18 pistols.

The accused have been identified as Wazir Khan, Mohammad Khan, Vaqar Abbas and Shah Nawaz, all residents of Bannu district. The Riaz Khan police have registered a case against the accused and impounded the car.

MURDER CASE: The alleged suicide by a woman in College Town here five days ago turned out to be a murder case after the postmortem report on Sunday revealed that the woman was killed by someone else, police said.

A resident of College Town, Irfan, had told the police that his wife had committed suicide by shooting herself with a 30-bore pistol due to unknown reasons. The police had handed over the body of the victim to the relatives for burial after registering a suicide case.

However, the police on Sunday learnt through the postmortem report that the woman had been murdered and it was not a suicide case. According to the report, the woman had been shot in a manner to give it a colour of suicide.

The staff of Riaz Khan police station registered a fresh case against unknown killers and has launched investigations.
