KARACHI: Ali Raza guided Askari Club to an emphatic 47-21 victory over Arambagh Club in the group ‘A’ match on the opening day of Sindh Sports Minister Cup Inter-club basketball tournament at the latter’s floodlit court on Monday evening.

Raza turned out to be the top scorer for his team with 20 points to his credit as the winners led 21-9 at half time.

He was assisted by Mahad who contributed 12 in the team’s success.

Samad and Areeb scored seven points apiece for Arambagh which is the second string.

In an earlier match, Bounce Club chalked up 43-28 victory over Neighbourhood Club juniors in group ‘B’.

The winning side led 20-11 at breather.

Israr top scored with 11 followed by Mohsin eight.

Azam Naz and Hamza Hasan scored 12 and seven respectively for losers.

In the third and last group ‘C’ match, Aga Khan University Club outplayed Karachi Youth Club 51-25.

The winners led 33-11 at lemon time.

Muzammil 11, Bilal 8 and Umer 6 were the main scorers for the AKU Club while Asad Imam 11 and Munib-ur-Rehman 4 were the main scorers for the losing side.—Sports Correspondent
