KARACHI, Feb 7: Karachi University Teachers' Society (Kuts) has decided to observe a 'black day' on Thursday (Feb 9) to express their solidarity with the faculty members of Sindh University.

However, Kuts Secretary Dr Haris Shoaib said that academic activities on the campus would not be disrupted on the 'black day' as the teachers would be taking their classes wearing black armbands.

The move was decided at a Kuts emergency meeting held on Wednesday with its president, Prof Mutahir Ahmed.

Kuts demanded that the Sindh government fulfill its duty of maintaining an atmosphere conducive to academic progress at Sindh University and bring an end to the prevailing uncertainties felt by faculty members by implementing effective and visible security measures.

It also urged the government to expedite the process of completing the judicial inquiry into the gruesome murder of Sindh University's Prof Bashir Ahmed Channar so as to give exemplary punishment to the culprits involved in the killing.
