KARACHI: Two men die in accidents

KARACHI, Nov 30: A young motorcyclist died and his two brothers, who were sitting on the pillion, were injured when the motorcycle hit against a stationary trailer on Mauripur Road on Saturday.

Police said that Faisal Ali Akbar, aged 19, with his two brothers, Zaman, aged 17, and Fahim, aged 16, was returning home after shopping. They were passing through Mauripur Road where street-lights were switched off. Due to the darkness, Faisal, who was driving the motorcycle, failed to notice a stationary trailer and hit against it. He died on the spot. His injured brothers were rushed to Civil Hospital, where they were stated to be out of danger.

The conductor of a passenger coach died and 10 passengers were injured when the coach they were travelling in overturned in Korangi Industrial Area.

Police said that a speeding Marwat Coach (PE-2569) overturned while negotiating a turn at Murtaza roundabout in Sharafi Goth police limits. As a result, the conductor of the coach, Lal Khan, aged 21, died on the spot. Ten passengers were injured. The injured were to rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre where five of them were discharged after first aid.

The five others have been identified as Mohammed Naeem, Mohammed Shakoor, Hazrat Kaleem, Akhtar Zaman, and Mohammed Riaz.

Police impounded the coach, but its driver escaped.

WOUNDED: A man was shot and wounded at Karim Centre in Saddar on Saturday morning.

Police said that when Mohammed Haroon, aged 55, a manager of Rahmani Garments, situated on the second floor of Karim Centre, was to open the shop, an unidentified man opened fire on him and disappeared.

Haroon suffered two bullet wounds. He was rushed to a hospital where he was operated upon. He was stated to be out of danger. However, doctors had not allow the patient to record his statement to police, till our going to press.

The owner of Rahmani Garments, Mohammed Yaseen, did not lodge an FIR, police said, adding that since the attacker was not after money, it appeared to be an act of personal enmity.
