KARACHI, Feb 2: Mohammad Majid, the junior No 2, continued his winning run by registering a second successive victory in the 37th National snooker championship at Karachi Gymkhana on Thursday.

Majid, who stunned seventh seed Mohammad Asif Toba 4-1 in the group ‘G’ opener the other day, was on song by inflicting a 4-3 defeat on Sindh No 1 Mohammad Ishtiaq with the scores being 63-50, 43-23, 63-52, 29-70, 39-70, 37-70, 45-43. Contrary to Majid’s fine performance, junior champion Hunain Aamir suffered a second straight defeat when he lost 2-4 to Mohammad Nazeer.

Defending champion and fourth seed Shahid Aftab, second seed Mohammad Asif, former Asian No 2 and fifth seed Mohammad Sajjad, his pupil Asjad Iqbal also kept their winning run intact.

Pakistan No 1 Imran Shahzad, who suffered straight defeat at the hands of Sindh qualifier Vishan Gir on Wednesday, found his touch by prevailing over Yasir Shehzad 62-35, 49-41, 60-21, 63-21.
