KOHAT, Feb 1: A prominent member of a religious party and office-bearer of a welfare organisation was killed by unknown gunmen in Hangu district on Wednesday.

Tension again mounted in Hangu following the murder of member of Sunni Supreme Council, Khalid, who was also secretary general of a welfare organisation.

Police sources said that he was walking on the bypass road in the sensitive Sagerh Mohallah when unknown armed men opened fire killing him on the spot.

Officials when asked said that they were investigating the circumstances in which the murder was committed but most probably the killers were riding a motorcycle who disappeared after the incident. —Correspondent
