LARKANA, Jan 28: Police on Saturday booked a man for killing his sister’s daughter to obtain her gold earrings.

Naima Chandio, 6, went missing about three days ago from the village of Haidar Chandio located in the area of Sujawal Junejo.

Ghulam Akbar Chandio, a peasant and the father of the girl, informed police about the missing.

He suspected involvement of his brother-in-law Amjad and asked police to arrest and interrogate him.

Initially Amjad denied committing the crime but later he confessed to have suffocated Naima to death.

He led police to a farmland near the village and spotted the place where he had buried Naima after removing her earrings.

The gold earrings were sold out to a goldsmith in Ratodero for Rs2000/- only, police said.

Police in the presence of relatives dug out the corpse of the girl. After an autopsy in a Shahdadkot hospital, the body was handed over to relatives, police said.

An FIR has been registered against the criminal.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a man in a murder case.

On Jan 13, Ms Slama Bhutto, 65, a midwife, was found dead near the railway underpass in Larkana city.

Ashique Bhutto, a close relative of the deceased, during investigation confessed to killing Salma in collusion with his two friends Aftab Junejo and Zahid Solangi.

They suffocated her to death and removed her 22 gold earrings. He had sold his share of five earrings to a goldsmith, police said.
