RAWALPINDI, Jan 27: Police on Friday claimed to have solved mystery surrounding the murder of a young man whose strangulated body was found stuffed in a sack from a nullah near Jhanda Chichi. The claim surfaced after police arrested a man, his wife and young daughter who confessed to the crime.

Nadeem Abbas’s body was found in a sack lying near the bank of a nullah in the civil line area last Saturday. However, nothing else was found from the sack which could lead the police to trace the killer. The gruesome murder of Nadeem Abbas remained blind until his father Abdul Majeed contacted police and expressed his suspicion on one of his relatives Azizur Rehman who lived with his family at Jhanda Chichi.

Sub-inspector Mohammad Afzal who was leading the investigation revealed that Azizur Rehman was taken into custody after the father of the deceased expressed suspicion saying that Nadeem Abbas had come to his house on Jan 18 and stayed with his family.

He further revealed that the deceased was expert in black magic and wanted to marry Amina, daughter of Azizur Rehman who had already been divorced.

The investigation officer said Amina alleged that she was raped by Nadeem during his stay at their house. Later, she narrated her ordeal to her parents who planned the murder of Nadeem because he had threatened to destroy the family by black magic, if he was blamed for rape and police was involved.

The IO said the family, having confessed to crime, went to his house and while Nadeem was sleeping they pounced upon him and strangulated him . — Mohammad Asghar
