LAHORE, Jan 27: The Parents Students Action Committee MBBS Admissions (PSACMA) has urged the Punjab government for the commencement of MBBS classes at the proposed undergraduate medical college of the Post Graduate Medical Institute.
The action committee was formed by some medical students and their parents when the Punjab government refused MBBS admissions for the session 2011-12 to the newly-established undergraduate medical college of the PGMI despite the fact that the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council approved it and allowed new admissions. In a press release issued here on Friday, the PSACMA office bearers sought immediate intervention of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and urged him to give permission for the commencement of MBBS classes at the proposed college.
They said the parents whose children could not qualify for admissions to any medical college despite obtaining marks up to 82 per cent in the entrance test were much worried about their future.
“If the chief minister allows admissions at the PGMI medical college for the academic session 2011-12, it can save a precious year of students,” the PSACMA said.
PSACMA representatives have demanded of the chief minister to help deserving medical students.
