KARACHI, Jan 27: Shafi Jan beat Sheharyar Shah to advance into the final of the 56kg weight division on the opening day of District Municipal Corporation (DMC) South Inter-Club Boxing Tournament at Ustad Ali Muhammad Qambrani Boxing Stadium, Kakri Ground here on Thursday.

Talented Shafi, unleashing some stunning blows on Sheharyar’s chin, sent him to the canvas to win the bout.

Secretary Sindh Sports Shoaib Siddiqui, who was chief guest inaugurated the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the youth of Lyari were great boxing fans and the presence of a number of clubs in the event was a reflection of that. MC Noman Arshad, Sports Officer Asif Azeem, Olympian boxer and Asian Games gold medalist Meherullah, Malang Baloch, International Ghulam Nabi, Sher Muhammad, Ghulam Hussain Patni, SSB Consultant Musheer Rabbani, and Secretary SBA Muhammad Asghar were also present on the occasion.

Semifinal results: 44 KG: Saeed Ahmed bt Muhammad Ahsan 3-0, Arsalan bt Haris 2-1, Adeel bt Sikander 2-1.

52 KG: Rashid Khan bt Hamza Ahmed 3-0, Larab Nagori bt Danish 3-0, Shoaib bt Aaqib Ali 3-0, Badshah Khan bt Faqira 3-0, Fahad Gul bt Faraz Ahmed 3-0, Zahid bt Asghar Katchi 3-0.
