LAHORE, Jan 17: A 46th minute goal by Kashif Javed helped National Bank of Pakistan beat Punjab Whites 2-1 in the National U-21 Hockey Championship at the National Hockey Stadium here on Tuesday.

The first half was ended at 1-1 as the bankers first scored a goal through Ahmed Zubair in the fifth minute on a field attempt, but soon Punjab levelled the score when Hafiz Hassan hit the board in the 14th minute, converting a penalty-corner. Kashif hit the winner in the 46th minute.

In the other match, two-goal Waseem Abbas propelled Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to 3-0 win against Pakistan Railways. Waseem banged home in the 10th and 33rd minutes, while Mohammad Asif converted a penaltycorner in the 62nd minute to complete the tally.

Two-goal Waqas Nobet guided Punjab Colours to 4-1 win against Army in another match of the day.

Waqas scored in the 14th and 50th minutes. Shaharyar (23rd) and Adnan Anwar (65th) added one goal each. The lone goal for the losing side was scored by Muhammad Saleem (26th).

In the last match, Wapda trounced PHF Academy 2-1.
