LAHORE, Jan 17: Robbers shot at and injured two traders during a shop robbery and a youth injured by robbers a few days ago died at a hospital in the city on Tuesday, police said.

Two robbers entered an electric store near Main Phattak Kharak in Sabzazar police limits and tried to loot cash and valuables.

During the course of time, shopkeepers Hanif and Nadeem offered resistance which led to the firing by outlaws who escaped emptyhanded.

The victims, who received two bullets each, were admitted to Jinnah Hospital.

A youth died of a bullet wound at Mayo Hospital on Tuesday four days after he was injured by two robbers following a street crime incident in Muhammadnagar on Allama Iqbal Road.

Qila SHO Qadeer Ahmad said one of two robbery suspects had been traced and would be arrested shortly.

He said 22-year-old Majid Nazir of Muhammadnagar raised an alarm and tried to chase two robbers riding a bike, soon after they looted a cell phone from his friend Yusraj.

One of the robbers opened fire on Majid and escaped.

Majid suffered a bullet and was admitted to Mayo Hospital. The SHO said the victim got some recovery at night, but his condition deteriorated in the morning.

WOMAN DIES: A 22-yearold woman died at a hospital on Tuesday a day after she took poisonous substance at her lover's house in IrrigationColony in Mustafaabad.

Police registered a murder case against three family members on the victim's last statement before death that she was served poisonous substance.

Mustafaabad police said Majeedan alias Sonia of Kanhanpur, Kasur, came to the house of Waqar Shah to see him on Monday evening.

Waqar's family told her to leave as he was not at home.

Quoting the victim, police said she had been given some substance and was dragged out of the house by Waqar's father Syed Balcht Baidar Ali Shah, his wife and a daughter.

Police said the woman who fell unconscious was shifted to Services Hospital where she died.

Police shifted the body for autopsy and took Baidar into custody.

FOUND KILLED: A 24year-old man was found shot dead in front of a factory near Azam Chowlc in Nishtar Colony early on Tuesday.

Police responded to an emergency call at around 11:45pm and found the man dead with multiple bullet wounds.

ASI Abdul Ghafoor said the man, not yet identified, suffered at least five bullets to his face, throat and a temple.

He said police were unable to find witnesses to the incident.

He said the body was already shifted to the mortuary and a case had been registered against unidentified killer(s).

Further investigation is under way.
