Cabbie killed

ISLAMABAD, Jan 15: A 26-year-old cabbie was shot dead in the limits of Tarnol police station on Sunday.

According to police, residents informed them that a body was lying in the green belt near Bhidhana village.

Police reached the spot and shifted the body to Pims. The deceased was identified as Farmanullah, a resident of Mardan. Police contacted the brother of the deceased, Subhanullah and handed him the body.

Subhan said the deceased was father of three children and used to drive a taxi. He was worried as some unknown persons had been threatening him for a few days. According to hospital sources only one bullet was fired at Farman that punctured his heart. Duty officer, Qadeer Ahmed said it seemed that a professional killer shot at Farman as only one bullet was fired at him that claimed his life. — A Reporter

Protest against CDA

ISLAMABAD, Jan 15: Residents of Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) model urban shelter scheme, Alipur Farash staged a protest demonstration on Sunday against non-existence of civic facilities at their locality.

The protest was held on the call of All-Pakistan Alliance for Katchi Abadis as scores of men, women and children drew the attention of CDA bosses towards the plight of the residents of the area as there existed no proper sewerage system, water supply or even regular garbage collection system.

Speaking on the occasion, local organiser of All-Pakistan Alliance for Katchi Abadis Rukhsana Qazi said that hundreds of families were resettled in Alipur Farash from a number of Islamabad’s katchi abadis over the past few years but the CDA had not provided any facility here.

The protesters demanded of the civic body to resolve their problems and provide civic amenities at the locality sooner than later. — A Reporter
