RAWALPINDI, Jan 15: Robbers seemed to have a field day with as many as seven robberies the highest number of incidents reported in the city so far in current year committed in a single day here on Sunday.

They made away with cash and gold ornaments looted at gunpoint after injuring four of the victims.

According to details, Waris Khan police station was the worst hit where four of the incidents were reported in a span of six hours.

However, none of the culprits was arrested by the police.

Mohammad Abdullah, one of the robbery victims said in his complaint that three unidentified gunmen forcibly entered his house at night andmade his family hostage at gunpoint.

He said two of the robbers started searching the house while their accomplices remained on guard. The robbers grabbed Rs70,000 and two cell phones from the inmates and later escaped after locking them in a room.

Mohammad Akram, a resident of Chamanzar colony lodged a similar complaint with the Waris Khan police saying that four unidentified robbers entered his house and pulled out their guns.

He said the gunmen threatened his family to kill them all if the cash and gold ornaments were not given to them. The robbers snatched Rs70,000 along with gold ornaments and a mobile phone from the inmates and escaped.

Sheikh Khalid, a resident ofDhoke Farman Elahi, was sleeping at his house when four unidentified persons one of them carrying a gun while the other ones holding iron rods broke into their house at around 4.50am. The movement of strangers inside the house awoke the family who tried to overpower the intruders.

'First the intruders shot and injured Sheikh Habib, the elder son of Khalid and then they beat and injured him with iron rods. Later the culprits got panicked and escaped only with one cell phone,' the robbery victim said.

Later the injured were removed to the district headquarters hospital where they were stated stable.

Ijazul Haq said in his complaint lodged with the Waris Khan police that he was on way to home at 10pmafter having meal at a hotel when three unidentified gunmen intercepted him on Tipu road and forced him to give up the cash.

He said he was shot and injured after he tried to resist and they disappeared in the dark. The police have registered a case on the charges of attempted murder but the culprits were yet to be traced.

Irfan Azeem, a resident of Banni Mohallah was shot and injured by two unidentified gunmen who intercepted him in the street while he along with his brother Rizwan Azeem was on way to home at 10.30pm.

Rizwan said in his complaint that he along with his brother was going home when two unidentified persons one of whom was carrying a gun intercepted them and shot and in-jured his brother Irfan and later escaped. He said he had no enmity with anybody.

In Sadigabad, Imran Jamal was shot injured by two gunmen who also robbed him of Rs9,835 and two mobile phones and escaped.

He said in his complaint that he along with his cousin Ms Ghazal was going home when two unidentified persons blocked their way and forced them to give up cash at gunpoint. He said the gunmen snatched purse containing the cash from his cousin and they also shot and injured him after he tried to overpower them.

In Westridge, four unidentified gunmen raided an auto parts store and made its owner Zahid Hussain hostage at gunpoint. The robbers snatched Rs22,000 from Zahid and later escaped from the scene.
