ISLAMABAD: Gunmen shot and injured a businessman and his employee a Rs2 million robbery, police said on Wednesday.

The injured were identified as Abdul Jabbar and his cashier Mohammad Wasim Khan, they added.

The incident took place when Abdul Jabbar was going to a bank along to deposit an amount of Rs2.7 million, they said, adding that a gunman, accompanied by two more persons, opened fire on his vehicle when they reached Wheat Godown Bridge Service Road about 100 yards away from his office.

As a result Abdul Jabbar sustained a bullet injury, in his abdomen, while Mohammad Wasim Khan, who was sitting on the rear seat, sustained a bullet injury in his hand, they said, adding the gunmen escaped with the amount.

A case was registered at Sabzi Mandi police station against the three robbers under section 394 of PPC.
