THATTA, Jan 15: Delay in release of funds by the provincial finance department to almost all district treasurer offices in Sindh for the recently enhanced daily rations and constabulary allowance has dismayed police personnel in Thatta district.

The Sindh government had issued a notification through the finance department on September 17 last year approving a grant for fixed daily allowance for 82,769 police personnel on field duties with effect from that month.

The home department sent the directives to the Accountant-General Sindh for implementation of the orders.

Bills for personnel serving in the Hyderabad district forwarded to district account offices by the Deputy Inspector General of Police.

But funds were not released apparently because the necessary budget had not been allocated.—Correspondent
