KARACHI, Nov 25: A delegation of the Grand National Alliance (GNA) led by Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim called on a central leader of the Muttahida Majalis Amal (MMA), Asadullah Bhutto, at Zia Auditorium and discussed with him about formation of a government in Sindh.

The GNA team comprised Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, Imtiaz Ahmad Sheikh, Irfanullah Marwat, Nadir Ansari and Mir Hasan Khoso while the MMA members participated in the parleys were Maulana Abdul Karim Abid, Allama Hasan Turabi, Maulana Asad Thanvi and Hashim Siddiqui.

Both sides held a detailed discussion on provincial matters and agreed to hold similar meetings in future too.

Provincial leadership of the MMA made it clear that the issue of formation of a provincial government and consequent developments would be decided only after a written agreement in this regard.

The leadership also said the new agreement was aimed at setting definite targets as the MMA was not interested in grabbing power, but it would ensure implementation of its manifesto.

Expressing his views, Arbab Rahim said that the GNA was seeking formation of government in the province by entering into an alliance with the MMA as, he said, both the sides maintained similar views on a number of issues. It would be in the larger interest of the province if like-minded parties formed government, he said.

“We have already mustered support of more than 90 MPAs and with the backing by the MMA, there stand prospects of formation of a strong government in Sindh. However, a clear situation in this regard would become transparent soon”, he added.—PPI
