KARACHI, Nov 25: Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind said on Monday that the steps taken for the relief of drought victims were aimed at inducing in them a feeling that they were not alone in this hour of need.

Speaking to a delegation of social workers at his office, the chief secretary pointed out that the Eid-ul-Fitr was drawing closer and said that he realized wishes and aspirations of the drought-affected Tharis on this occasion.

The team had requested the chief secretary to pin point such people of Sindh who should be extended assistance on priority.

Mr Rind appreciated the sentiments and intentions of the team and told them that for the time being the people of Thar and Kohistan truly deserved an immediate assistance.

Besides food items, the victims needed warm clothes, quilts etc., to brave the bleak winter, he informed the social workers.—APP
