KARACHI, Nov 25: The water shortage persists in some parts of Baghdadi Union Council, residents have complained.

The locals also said they had been continuously raising a hue and cry for the last four months for the restoration of water supply, but their efforts could not produce results.

They pointed out that the Moosa Lane pumping station— which remains the main source of water supply to D.D Chaudhary Road, Bismillah Colony, Fidha Husain Sheika Road and its adjoining areas— was not releasing water to their areas.

The residents also pointed out that the decade-old water pipeline laid on the D.D Chaudhry Road had been completely damaged. It should be replaced at the earliest, they stressed.

In the meanwhile, the KWSB staff removed a number of illegal water connections on Sheedi Village Road to improve the water supply position in Baghdadi Saifi Lane, which was facing the water shortage for four months.

Reports of the water shortage were also received from Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road, Ali Mohammad Mohalla, Phulpatti Lane and some other parts of the Shah Beg Lane Union Council.

The people of Shah Beg Lane and Baghdadi Union Council have been protesting against the water shortage for quite some time.

They have been pressing the authorities concerned to establish a separate pumping station to augment the water supply to these affected pockets.

The residents accuse that the valvemen divert water share of the locality to commercial areas in order to mint money.

It is surprising that there has never been a shortage of water in the commercial areas of Baghdadi Union Council.
