Three gunned down in Dera

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 4: The owner of a honey-bee farm and his two servants were gunned down by unidentified assailants in Yarak here on Sunday.

Police quoted Noordiaz, resident of Domail, FR Bannu, as saying he along with his brother Riaz worked as labourers on a honey-bee farm owned by Faizullah near Giloti village, some 35 kilometers from Dera Ismail Khan.

He said last night he as usual left for his tent to sleep, whereas his brother Riaz and Farman, another worker, stayed with the farm owner Faizullah in his hut.

Noordiaz said he found all the three persons killed in cold blood early in the morning on Sunday.

The Yarak police shifted the bodies to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy. The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained.—Correspondent

Three bodies recovered

MARDAN, Dec 4: Police recovered bodies of an unidentified young woman and two children from the fields near Khatkilly Irab nullah, locals and police said on Sunday.

A local told this correspondent that he and his colleagues were cutting sugarcane crop when they saw the bodies lying in the field.

He said that they informed the Par Hoti police station about the bodies after which the police reached the spot and took the bodies into custody.

The police shifted the bodies to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy.

Nihar Ali, SHO Par Hoti police station, said that the woman was aged about 24 and seemed to be mother of the children; a boy aged 5 and a girl aged 3. Police registered FIR against unidentified killers and started investigation.—Correspondent

Man shot dead in Swabi

SWABI, Dec 4: A man was killed allegedly by his rival over a money dispute in Chota Lahor tehsil here on Sunday.

Police said the victim, Mohammad Jamil, ran a dispute with Mohammad Salim over money. The accused, Salim, opened fire on Jamil when he was going home, killing him on the spot.

The police registered a case on the report of Mohammad Bashir, son of the victim, Mohammad Jamil, and started investigation.—Correspondent

Two held with arms, hashish

KOHAT, Dec 4: A man and his son were arrested while smuggling arms and hashish from the tribal area to Bannu near toll plaza on Indus Highway here on Sunday.

The police said that they stopped a suspicious car bearing number U-8567 at Kohat Tunnel toll plaza which was coming from Darra Adamkhel side. Upon checking the police party recovered 40 pistols of 30-bore and two kilograms of fine quality hashish from its secret cavities. The consignment was being smuggled to Bannu district, according to the police.

The two smugglers Surat Khan and his son Wajid Khan were also arrested and a case was registered against them in the Riaz Khan Shaheed police station.—Correspondent

‘CM only serving native district’

KARAK, Dec 4: Former provincial minister and leader of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf Sher Nawaz Khattak said on Sunday that all successive chief ministers had served only their native constituencies and ignored rest of the province.

Speaking at a meeting of party workers here, he said due to the wrong policies of the rulers the country had become isolated.

He said that the ANP-led provincial government had miserably failed to resolve the people’s problems.

He said that the incumbent Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti also followed in the footprints of his predecessors and had also shifted all development funds to Charsadda and Mardan districts.

The PTI leader said the elected representatives from Karak were incompetent and added that they had failed to ensure supply of gas even to the oil and gas producing Banda Daud Shah tehsil.—Correspondent

Strict security on Ashura routes

LAKKI MARWAT, Dec 4: Regional Police Officer Bannu Feroze Shah has directed the district police to keep a strict check on anti-social elements and suspects for ensuring peace during Muharram especially on Ashura.

During a visit to Mohallah Sayyedaan, Bamozai and other parts of Lakki city on Sunday, the RPO went to the checkposts on the entry and exit points of the routes of mourners’ processions.

Accompanied by DPO Lakki Gulzar Ali Khan, SP Investigation Mohammad Idrees Khan and other police officials he inspected security arrangements in the processions’ routes and in and around Imambargah in Lakki city.

He met members of area peace committee and appreciated them for extending cooperation to the local police for ensuring peace and harmony.

Mr Shah directed local police to tighten noose around suspects and outlaws and ensure strict checking of vehicles entering the premises of urban locality.—Correspondent

Power supply scheme

MANSEHRA, Dec 4: Minister of State Sardar Shahjahan Yousuf on Sunday inaugurated an electricity supply scheme in Jigan village of Balakot at a cost of Rs13 million.

Speaking on the occasion he said the government was giving due importance to the development of the far-off and neglected areas.

He said a girl’s primary school would also be constructed and existing middle school for boys would be upgraded.

“We want real prosperity and development of the people and would also establish health centres and schools in the village.

Former MPA Syed Mazhar Qasim also spoke on the occasion.—Correspondent
