TEXILA: Fourteen passengers, including women and children, burned to death while seven sustained injuries when a van caught fire after a blast in its gas cylinder near Taxila on Tuesday, DawnNews reported.

According to police, the van, travelling from Peshawar towards Islamabad, collided with a tree when the driver lost control due to a flat tyre.

The collision caused an explosion in the gas cylinder of the van, resulting in its complete destruction.

Rescue teams reached the spot after the incident and pulled the dead and injured after cutting through the body of the van.

The injured were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital where they were stated to be in a critical condition.
