PBSA secures visas for cueists to participate in World Amateur Snooker

KARACHI: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) have managed to secure visas for Bangalore-bound two cueists on Tuesday, courtesy Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

The World Amateur Snooker Championship runs at Bangalore from Nov 28 to Dec 3.

The players who were granted Indian visas include Imran Shahzad and Mohammad Asif Toba.

PBSA president Alamgir Shaikh went to Islamabad on Monday due to non-availability of no objection certificate (NOC) from the Indian Ministry of Interior.

“I’d phoned my Indian counterpart Capt (retd) Mohan and lodged strong protest for delay in NOC which has caused embarrassment to the PBSA,” he told Dawn from Islamabad before returning home.

The PBSA chief, however, thanked the Indian High Commission for issuing visas to players without the NOC and hoped visas to the officials will be issued soon.

The two cueists are due to fly to Dubai on Saturday on way to Mumbai and Bangalore.
