PESHAWAR, Nov 17: The former world squash champion, Qamar Zaman, has joined Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) and expressed the hope that country will make progress under the leadership of Imran Khan.According to a pres release, he announced his decision of joining PTI during a meeting with chief of provincial working committee of the party, Asad Qaisar, here on Thursday.

Mr Zaman said on the occasion that he was a sportsman and never indulged in politics but keeping in view the agenda of PTI he decided to take part in active politics to serve people. He said that he would stand by Imran Khan in his struggle to do away with corruption and make Pakistan a respectable country.

On the occasion, Mr Qaisar said that Pakistan was rich in natural resources but the prevalent culture of commissions and kickbacks stood in the way of development and progress of the country.

“Imran Khan has a vision for the country owing to which people are joining the party in droves,” he said. He added that party tickets would be allotted to the candidates with untainted past.

Mr Qaisar said that PTI would not enter into electoral alliances with corrupt politicians. The PTI, he said, would bring the stolen wealth of the country from foreign banks and take stern action against those involved in corruption.

He said that Imran Khan had proved his worth, first by winning the world cup in 1992 and then making Shaukat Khanum Hospital in 1995 and a college in Mianwali in 2009. He would put Pakistan on the path of development after winning the next polls and becoming prime minister, he added.
