CHINIOT, Nov 4: A schoolboy was beaten to death allegedly by a classmate and a teacher here on Friday.

Hassan Ali, a student of class VII in the Government High School of Chak 147/JB on the Chiniot-Aminpur Bungalow Road, had a quarrel with classmate Rizwan Ahmad.

It has been alleged that Hassan was severely beaten up by Rizwan and his uncle Mohammad Zafar, a physical education teacher in the same school. He was taken to the district headquarters hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Rajoa Sadat police arrested Rizwan and Zafar and registered a case against them.

Executive District Officer (Education) Mehr Ashraf Ali suspended the teacher and ordered an investigation.

But district police chief Rana Shahzad Akbar said that preliminary investigation suggested that the teacher was not involved in the incident.
