QUETTA, Nov 3: A schoolteacher and prayer leader was shot at and injured in Kasi area on Thursday evening, police said.

Qari Yasin Abbasi, a teacher in Islamia High School, was passing through the Ibrahim Street when gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire at him. He was wounded and taken to the Civil Hospital.

The cause of the attack remains unclear.

Later, a group of people protesting against the attack gathered on Kasi road and forced shopkeepers to close their businesses. They also torched a snooker club on the Ibrahim Street.

Police then rushed to the area and dispersed the protesters.

Meanwhile, a man was shot dead and two others were injured in a similar attack in Mastung town, police said.

Naeem Jamali was going to a market when unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire, killing him on the spot. Two other people suffered injuries.
