KARACHI, Nov 2: A scrap dealer was gunned down near the Lyari General Hospital on Wednesday, police said.

They said that 35-year-old Jumma, son of Rasool Bukash, was present near the hospital on Ahmed Ali Shah Bukhari Road within the remit of the Baghdadi police station when gunmen shot him and fled.

The area people took the victim to the nearby Lyari General Hospital where doctors provided him first aid and referred him to the Civil Hospital Karachi.

However, the victim succumbed to his wounds on his way to the civil hospital, the police added.

A duty officer at the police station said that the victim was a resident of Ali Mohammad Mohalla and had a scrap business in the same area.

The police said that the people present at the crime-scene did not share an eyewitness account with the police about the suspects. The police, however, believed that the killing might be related to Lyari gang warfare.

Following legal formalities, the police handed over the body to heirs.

An FIR pertaining to the killing was yet to the registered at the police station.

Bullet-riddled body found

The bullet-riddled body of a young man was found on the Superhighway near Faqir Goth within the remit of the Sohrab Goth police station on Wednesday, police said.

They said that the body bore at least six bullet wounds and it seemed that the man had been killed somewhere else and his body was dumped here.

The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was identified as Ehsan Ali Abro.

The victim, who hailed from Jacobabad, was staying at a flood victims’ camp on the Superhighway, a duty officer at the Sohrab Goth police station said.

The officer said that the victim’s younger brother, Mushtaq, received his body and no case was registered till the filing of this report.
