LAHORE, Oct 31: A Lahore High Court division bench on Monday suspended three-year sentence of another police constable in Sialkot lynching case and released him on bail.

After grant of bail to Yasin, all the policemen convicted in the case had been released on bail.

An Anti-Terrorism Court of Gujranwala had awarded a three-year term to constable Yasin, along with other accused policemen in the case.

All the convicted policemen, including former Sialkot district police officer Waqar Chohan, had challenged their sentence before the high court, got their sentences suspended and were granted bails.

Constable Yasin also challenged his sentence on the same grounds and the court released him on bail subject to furnishing of bail bonds worth Rs100,000. These policemen were convicted on charges of committing criminal negligence resulting in the lynching of two brothers --- Mughees and Muneeb. Challenging their conviction, the petitioners submitted that in the light of the Supreme Court decision a convict granted less than five-year punishment could be released on bail.

They had contended that they were not present on the place where the incident occurred and the complainant implicated them in the case with mala fide.
