KARACHI, Nov 15: Dr Imran Farooq, who was recently suspended as convener of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s coordination committee, has dismissed reports of forming another group or faction, says a press release of the Muttahida issued here on Friday.

The MQM chief, Altaf Husain, had taken exception to his activities and had suspended his convenorship while calling for elections to the coordination committee soon after Ramazan.

Dr Imran Farooq, according to the press release, has accepted the disciplinary action taken against him by Mr Altaf Hussain and vowed to serve the organization as an ordinary member.

He termed press reports about formation of a separate group by him misleading. According to the press release, this was deliberately circulated allegedly by the agencies and the Establishment-backed newspapers, to create confusion.

The MQM chief has directed his party’s legislators to strive for serving the people whether they are part of the government, or not.

He emphasized the need for solving problems on a self-help basis.
