RAWALPINDI, Oct 26: The Anti-Corruption Court of Rawalpindi on Wednesday issued warrants for the arrest of property tycoon Malik Riaz, his son Ali Riaz and five other persons in a land fraud case.

The officials of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) told Special Judge Anti-Corruption Malik Nazir Ahmed that the property tycoon was involved in fake and illegal transfer of 1,401 kanals of land in Mozah Azizal of Kalar Syedan.

The ACE has already arrested Colonel (retired) Saeed Akhtar, the general manager of the housing society; Iqbal Ahmed, the site supervisor, along with two officials of the revenue department for using fake identities and forging land documents to transfer the land to Bahria Town.

The FIR against the accused was registered on November 24, 2009, after the villagers of Saghri lodged a complaint with the ACE against the revenue officials for depriving them of their land.

Meanwhile, in reply to a question in the Senate regarding the details of income tax assessed and paid by Bahria Town during the last three years, Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh said Section 216 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 debarred “disclosure in relation to any matter in respect of which there is a constitutional or statutory obligation not to disclose information.”
