KOHAT, Oct 23: Police claimed to have arrested three drug smugglers and seized huge quantity of contraband at Marai checkpost here on Sunday.

The drugs were being smuggled from Orakzai Agency to down country, they said. They added that they stopped a suspicious car at the checkpost, established on the border between Kohat district and Orakzai Agency.

“Three persons were travelling in the car, coming from the tribal area,” police said. Twenty kilograms fine quality of hashish and two kilograms of opium were recovered from the secret cavities of the vehicle, they added.

Police said that all the three passengers identified as Shan Mohammad, Hamid Ali and Burhan Ali were arrested. The arrested persons belonged to Hangu district, they added.

KILLED: A young man was killed in the name of honour in Lachi tehsil of Kohat on Sunday.

Police said that three brothers Said Rasool, Shehbaz and Wazir Ali opened firing on Mohammad Wazir Jan and his nephew Suleman Amjad. As a result Suleman Amjad was killed on the spot while Mohammad Wazir Jan escaped unhurt.

The Lachi police registered a case against the three brothers on the complaint of Wazir Jan and launched efforts for their arrest.

URS: The annual three-day Urs of Pir Abidullah Shah famous as Zinda Pir concluded here on Sunday.

Police had made special arrangements for the Urs, which started on October 21. Thousands of people from across the country, especially from Punjab, attended the Urs.
