MULTAN, Nov 13: Situation at the Okara military farms once again became tense on Wednesday when law-enforcement agencies took into custody some six villagers including a fourth class student.

Reports said the Okara police arrested Ghani, Danial, Peter and Barkat of Chak 10/4-L and Allah Ditta of Chak 9/4-L. It was learnt that a 4th class student of Chak 9/4-L had also been missing. His name, however, could not be ascertained.

Ghani is the brother of Anjuman Mazareen Punjab’s secretary-general Younas Iqbal.

Those arrested are the employees of military dairy farms. They were returning from work in the evening when the ‘law-enforcers’ whisked them away. News of their arrest spread like a jungle fire, and the people including women and children surrounded the offices of the farm management and demanded their early release. However, none of them had been released till the filing of this report.

Talking to Dawn, Younas Iqbal said dairy farm employees would go on strike if the arrested workers were not released within 24 hours.
