KARACHI, Nov 13: A 30-year-old domestic servant was stabbed to death by one of his acquaintances at the house where he was employed in Green Town, Shah Faisal Colony, here on Wednesday.

According to police the victim, Mohammad Bilal was serving the family of an advocate, Taufiq Zahid, for the last 10 years. On Wednesday morning, an unidentified man, believed to be an acquaintance of Bilal, came to the house while Mr Taufiq was away at work. Mrs Sajjada Taufiq was at home and she witnessed the man stabbing Bilal to death and fleeing. She rushed out of the home and called her husband from the nearby PCO to apprise him of the murder.

Mr Taufiq informed the police about the murder. The police visited the house and shifted Bilal’s body to the Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for postmortem.

SHOT DEAD: A young man was shot dead and another injured when unidentified assailants opened fire in Chishti Nagar area of Orangi Extension on Wednesday evening.

Police said that the assailants on motorcycles struck at the home of the victim, Firdous, aged 35, and inquired about him. His father told them that he was not at home but might be somewhere in the street. They drove through the street and upon spotting him, opened fire. A stray bullet hit and injured another person, Jackson Pop, aged 22.

Both the victims were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Firdous was pronounced dead. Jackson was admitted for treatment.

CARJACKINGS: At least 31 vehicles — nine cars and 22 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen from different parts of the city on Wednesday, police said.

Seven cars were hijacked and two stolen, they said adding that 15 motorcycles were taken away at gunpoint and the rest stolen.
