ISLAMABAD, Oct 14: Gallery Louvre, a new art gallery in the capital, which has been a part and parcel of the art horizon in Karachi for over a decade is hosting Ahmad Zoay's twenty-fourth solo exhibition presently.

The exhibition launched on Friday pulled quite a crowd on the opening day. It's the first exhibition that Gallery Louvre is hosting and the art pieces displayed are done by a maestro. With this particular exhibition Gallery Louvre hopes to make the mark in the federal capital and with the response so far it seems like they've already made quite an impression.

Ahmad Zoay was born in 1947 and possesses a unique vision of the world. The work of Ahmad Zoay is inspired by his childhood memories of arresting colors and his experience as a flower child nomad.

Zoay's first exhibition was held at Lahore Arts Council in 1974, which expressed the experiences of young nomad artists after his first hippy train journey through Afghanistan, Turkey on to Germany and other parts of the world. Solo exhibitions of Zoay were held in Germany and in 80's he exhibited his work executed in a variety of media in Holland, Sweden and Italy. He then returned to Pakistan to focus more in his paintings particularly that discovers the artist's palette of primary colors.

This exhibition, which is his work's twenty-fourth showcase, presents the work that has been matured over thirty-seven years. Every exhibition by Zoay revolves around a particular theme and this one seems to be heavily inspired by women and feminism. His work shows women and bright colors that ooze energy.

At the first sight, they may seem very similar but a slightly thoughtful eye is needed to appreciate the minor differences that set one painting apart from another. From the looks of it, it all seemed to be done by oil paints, which has a unique texture of its own.
