Prisoner escapes from Rawalpindi hospital

RAWALPINDI: Two police officials and two other persons were booked by the police after an under-trial prisoner escaped from Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) on Wednesday night.

Zahid Iqbal sub-inspector registered an FIR saying that he and his subordinate was on a routine checking of prisoner under treatment at the BBH hospital and police officials guarding the suspects.

When they reached surgical ward 9 of the hospital where an UTP involved in a drug case was under treatment.

He said when they rteached they the accused and shift in-charge ASIImran Khan and constable Qamar Ali were missing.

After an inquiry and reviewing the CCTV it was emerged that the accused and his son Adnan left the hospital ward at about 6.15 p.m along with an unidentified person and two police guards.

The footage showed Adnan, son of the accused, and another unknown person brought the accused on a wheelchair and boarded him in a private car and sped off.

Police said that the two police officials who were guarding the accused provided an opportunity to the accused to escape with his son and an unknown person.

Legal action has been initiated against the accused and negligent police officials were suspended.
