KARACHI, Oct 13: The trials to select an 18-member Pakistan junior hockey squad will be held at the Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium here on Saturday, chief selector Hanif Khan announced on Thursday.

The team will take part in the inaugural eight-nation Sultan Johar Junior Hockey Tournament which will be held from Nov 5 to 12 in Johar Baru in Malaysia.

“I have seen the boys in action a couple of times and I am confident that Pakistan senior team will be getting good replacements in future,” the former Olympian said.

“Despite criticism from some quarters, Pakistan hockey future is bright,” he added.

Following will be appearing in the trials: Mazhar Abbas, Mohammad Safian, Amjad Ali (goalkeepers), Waseem Abbas, Safeer Hussain, Mohammad Umair, Hafiz Rizwan Ali, Mohammad Asad Bashir, Mohammad Arsalan Qadir, Faisal Qadir, M Zahid Khan, Zohaib Ashraf, Mohammad Bilal Qadir, Abdul Qayyum Dogar, Hafiz Umar Sardar, Hassan Mansoor, Amjad Ali, Mohammad Dilber, Mohammad Adnan Anwar, Aleem Bilal, Mohammad Khalid Bhatti, Mohammad Mushtaq, Ali Hassan Faraz, Ahmad Zubair, Mohammad Bilal Khan, Abdul Karim Abdul Zohaib Khan, Ammad Butt, Asif Aslam, Arsalan Shirazi.—APP
