KARACHI, Oct 13: A young man was shot dead in Gulshan-i-Maymar on Thursday.

Police said Salman, 31, son of Shan Elahi, was attacked with a gun while he was driving through Maymar Morr in his car (ALK-634).

The station house officer of the Gulshan-i-Maymar police station said that it was not clear if the suspects were on foot or in a vehicle as there was no eyewitness to the killing.

The victim was a resident of Sector Y, Gulshan-i-Maymar, and an officer in a private bank. He was on his way to work when attacked by unknown armed men, the police said.

He received a single shot in the head and died instantly, they said.

“Initially, we took it as a mugging incident but an examination of the crime-scene suggested that it was a targeted killing as the victim's valuables were present in his car,” the area DSP said.

Police found a spent bullet casing of a TT pistol from the crime-scene.

The young man got married 15 days back, said SHO Sohrab Meo, and quoted the victim's family as saying that he was not affiliated with any party nor did he have any enemies.

Police said that the family had moved to Gulshan-i-Maymar from North Nazimabad about two months back.

An FIR of the incident was not registered till late in the night.
